Sustainability is no longer just an environmental goal, it has become a way of thinking that influences how businesses grow, governments create policies, and communities prepare for the future. As industries continue to adapt to global challenges, meaningful conversations and shared solutions have never been more important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This spirit of collaboration was at the heart of the Philippine Sustainability Now Forum 2026, organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, Inc. (ICCPI) on July 16, 2026. The forum gathered government officials, diplomats, business executives, sustainability experts, and innovators to exchange ideas on creating a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable Philippines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event welcomed representatives from both the public and private sectors, recognizing that sustainability is a responsibility that extends beyond individual organizations. It requires collaboration across industries, supported by innovation, sound governance, and long-term partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the forum’s distinguished participants was the European Union, which joined leaders from the Philippine government and the Italian and Filipino business communities to discuss opportunities and challenges in accelerating the country’s transition toward a sustainable economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delivering one of the keynote addresses, His Excellency Massimo Santoro, Ambassador of the European Union to the Philippines, emphasized the value of international cooperation in driving sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opening the program were Ferdinand “Perry” Ferrer, President of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Marlo Cruz, Country Director of CRIF Asia, who welcomed delegates and underscored the growing importance of collaboration between business and government in shaping sustainable growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forum also featured keynote presentations from Atty. Javey Francisco, Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission; Atty. Sharon Garin, Secretary of the Department of Energy; Ma. Margarita S. Mejia, President of the National Association of Business and Professional Women Organizations; Peter Sy, Vice President for Digital Transformation of the University of the Philippines; Engr. Vincent De Paz, Country Manager of the Global Reporting Initiative; and Matt Levin Tan, Co-founder of SOLX Technologies Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Industry leaders also shared how sustainability has become an integral part of their organizations. Featured speakers included Suyin Liu, Vice President and Head of Sustainability of SM Retail; Junard Cruz, Chief Executive Officer of Island Skies Alliance; Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar, Chief Reputation and Sustainability Officer of Aboitiz Equity Ventures; Mina Gabor, President of the International School of Sustainable Tourism; and Barbara Kitane, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Ampersand Future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Insightful panel discussions further enriched the program with Atty. Roel Refran, Chief Operating Officer of the Philippine Stock Exchange; Alexander Ablaza, President of the Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance; and Atty. Noel Baga, an expert in Energy Laws and Regulations from the University of the Philippines. Together with many other speakers and participants, they explored practical strategies for advancing sustainable finance, energy efficiency, responsible governance, and climate resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than a venue for exchanging ideas, the Philippine Sustainability Now Forum 2026 reflected how sustainability has become a defining priority for today’s leaders. The discussions demonstrated that meaningful progress is achieved when governments, businesses, academic institutions, and international partners work toward a common purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
